Freedom

I wrote "FREEDOM" for a local Freedom festival contest in my town with the encouragement from my music mentor, Bob Engemann. Although the song didn't win, the entire experience was profoundly rewarding and fun.

I wrote "FREEDOM" for a local Freedom festival contest in my town with the encouragement from my music mentor, Bob Engemann. Although the song didn't win, the entire experience was profoundly rewarding and fun. Writing the lyrics, recording the song, and creating a music video brought together friends, family, and a sense of community.

Each line in "FREEDOM" reflects a deep appreciation for the values and sacrifices that have shaped the United States. The verses speak to the strength and hard work of those who have built this country, honoring the blood, sweat, and tears of countless individuals. The chorus, with its powerful repetition of "freedom," is a celebration of the sacrifices made and the essence of American life. The bridge calls for unity and remembrance, a reminder that we are all connected and must support one another.

Creating "FREEDOM" was a bright moment in my life, especially considering the health challenges I faced soon after. In 2012, just a year after this joyful project, I underwent heart surgery to repair a hole that had been causing significant health issues. From 2009 to 2020, I struggled with chronic illness and depression, making this period a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Yet, looking back at the time spent creating "FREEDOM," I am filled with gratitude. It was a window of health and creativity amidst many struggles, a time when I felt proud and alive.

The making of the music video was a special highlight. Friends came together to film and produce the video, and my family even made appearances. It was a collective effort that added so much joy and meaning to the song. This project allowed me to connect with others in a unique way, sharing my love for music and my patriotism.

Even though I didn't win the contest, "FREEDOM" remains a cherished part of my journey. It's a testament to the resilience and spirit that I hold dear, a reflection of the pride I have in my country and in myself for persevering through tough times. Looking back, I treasure those moments of creation and camaraderie, grateful for the strength and support that helped me through both my musical endeavors and health battles.
